I also have been using RailModeller for the mac and find it useful for layout planning. If you have a group of tracks you want to move you have to move each piece individually. The only negative that really bugs me is that I have not found a way to move a group of tracks as one unit. It is easy to learn and has the FasTrack library. I have used Railmodeler on my MacBook Pro for a couple of months now and generally like it.
